PiE meeting February 6, 2012

A Slice of PIE

A brief recount of the February 6th PIE meeting.

Please click here to see the full minutes in PDF format.

Sharing Session:

In addition to administration and grade level reports, the following ideas/opportunities were shared:

  • Ila Sewal met to share the programs she runs focusing on gymnastics, dance and circus arts. PIE agreed to talk with PE teachers and the music teachers to discern potential of sponsoring a program with an accompanying K-4 variety show.
  • Parent survey about cafeteria use and opinions is “closed” and results are being looked at. A similar survey has been created and will be distributed to students in the near future. (Stay tuned for more details!)

Presentation by Jeff and Jessica:

  • Jessica (HCS’s own technology integration specialist) was introduced to PIE and a conversation was had about what parents want from a website and how communication can be best shared/distributed.
  • Ideas that are being explored include: expanded on-line calendar of events (sports, dances, standardized testing, fundraisers, etc), creating a “live feed” on HCS main website, and utilizing RSS feed to get updates on personal e-mail.
  • PIE to consider 2-3 parents who will be able to add to calendar and potentially help Jessica/Deb keep on-line calendars updated.

Working Session:

  • Final drafts of fundraising procedures, forms, and teacher funding schedules approved.
    • PIE representatives and administration to share these changes and how they impact YOU at an upcoming “chunk” meeting.
  • Agreed that next meeting (Tuesday, March 6th) that both Rosemary Webb and Tom Darling will present on Vermont Lures and entering adolescence respectively. Sharing session items will be presented in a written format to give each guest a full 30 minutes to share/present.

Help Wanted:

  • New section to PIE info in the Viking to have a “Help Wanted” section to link teachers with resources and manpower. E-mail Kate Dodge to enter your requests!
  • Request for extra yarn for new HCS knitting club made. Yarn donation boxes are in the school and town libraries. All donations appreciated!
